Pass Standard for PACES 2023.03

The PACES standard setting group met at the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow on Tuesday 28 November to agree the pass standards for the 2023.

03 assessment period. This pass standard will apply to candidates sitting in the 2023.03 assessment period only.

The group, consisting of representatives from the MRCP(UK) Clinical Examining Board, senior examiners from the three physician colleges, and lay and trainee representatives, advised by external experts, agreed the pass marks for the seven skills and the overall score candidates will need to achieve in order to pass the examination.

The pass standard for the 2023.03 assessment is outlined in the table below:

Overall Pass Mark 126/168

Candidates will have to pass all seven skills and achieve a minimum overall score of 126 to pass the examination.

The standard will be reviewed in March 2024 towards the end of the 2024.01 assessment period and updated information about the pass marks will be published following this.
