We are very pleased to announce that agreement has been reached with the GMC and the Statutory Education Bodies for training to be undertaken from August 2022 in Intensive Care Medicine (ICM) in association with the Group 1 physician specialties.
As there will not be any separation of internal medicine training from the associated medical specialty, trainees that successfully complete the training programme will gain a CCT in Intensive Care Medicine, Internal Medicine and the relevant medical specialty. The medical specialties that are most likely to be involved are Acute Internal Medicine, Renal Medicine and Respiratory Medicine but the Faculty of Intensive Care Medicine and Joint Royal Colleges of Physicians Training Board will now work together to produce the curricula for GMC approval.
