Examiner training

Once an application to become a PACES Examiner has been approved, the following information should be read before training.

Prepare for your training:

At the end of the day, complete the trainee examiner forms and ensure they are signed by the host and chair, you must have observed two cycles to complete your training. Once signed give the forms to the centre so they can return them to the relevant college.

Essential information

  • For UK training, all UK travel, meal (excluding alcohol) and accommodation expenses related to examining are covered. International travel to the UK is not covered for any examiner. For more information on finance policies contact the relevant college.
  • Training qualifies for CPD points.

*With the introduction of PACES23 from the third diet of 2023, please note that relevant examiner training information can be found here.

PACES23 examiner online training

In preparation for the new format of the exam (PACES23) we are required by our regulator, the GMC, to ensure our examiners are fully trained before examining in the new carousel.

Please ensure you watch all the short presentations below which explain the changes to the exam. Once you press play, you can expand the videos and watch in full screen mode. Following this, please complete the assessment module. The entire process should take no more than 30 minutes and you will then be trained and ready to examine from Autumn 2023. You will not be eligible to examine until you have completed this online training module

Many thanks for your commitment to MRCP(UK).
