The Physician Specialty Recruitment Office (PSRO) and the Joint Royal Colleges of Physician Training Board (JRCPTB) have reviewed the requirement for entry into training in the group 2 physician specialties.

In November 2019, the Faculty of Intensive Care Medicine (FICM) and the Joint Royal Colleges of Physicians Training Board (JRCPTB) submitted a proposal paper to the Curriculum Oversight Group (COG)* of the General Medical Council to defend the need for the continued ability to train between Intensive Care Medicine (ICM) and Acute, Renal and Respiratory Medicine.

We are very pleased to announce that agreement has been reached with the GMC and the Statutory Education Bodies for training to be undertaken from August 2022 in Intensive Care Medicine (ICM) in association with the Group 1 physician specialties.

Further to the Physician Specialty Recruitment Office's (PSRO) recent news item about the alternative certificate for entry into Group 1 higher medical specialties at ST4-level from 2022, they are pleased to confirm that the certificate has been agreed and is available to download from the PRSO Document Library .
