Trainees who enrolled before 01/08/07 and are not using the ePortfolio do not have to pay the new annual fee of £165. Instead, these trainees can pay £145 per annum; this reduced fee recognises that this group will not be making use of the ePortfolio. If you are charged £165, but believe you should have been charged this reduced fee please contact the JRCPTB enrolments team on enrolments@jrcptb.org.uk.
How can I pay my fees?
During the Online Enrolment progress you are asked to choose how to you want to pay your enrolment fees, currently there are two choices:
You can either make a one-off upfront payment to JRCPTB OR pay your training fees in fixed instalments alongside a Collegiate Membership programme.
Trainees enrolling at LAT, FTSTA, CT2 or CT3 should always pay the one off fee to prevent accidental overcharging.
The one off fee can be paid in the final stages of the online enrolment by debit or credit card (not American Express) or PayPal account. If you believe you may be due a reduction in the upfront fee due to enrolments at the same level which you have already paid for you may indicate this in the online system. Reductions will be made in accordance with our terms and conditions.
Trainees registered with JRCPTB can choose to pay their training fees in instalments through one of the Royal Colleges of Physicians of the UK (Edinburgh, Glasgow or London) alongside College membership fees, which are tax deductible. The first payment must be made directly to the JRCPTB and all other further payments will be collected annually by the relevant membership department on their usual suscription date. Please note that this can result in two payments falling due within a single year. However the total number of payments made will be limited to two payments for core trainees and five payments for specialty trainees as described in our terms and conditions. If you joined Collegiate membership before 01/08/07 please read paragraph 28 of our terms and conditions for more information.
What are the benefits of paying the one off fee?
Paying the one off fee protects you against further increases in the JRCPTB enrolment fees.
What are the benefits of paying through Collegiate Membership?
By choosing to pay through Collegiate Membership your JRCPTB fees will be spread over a number of payments. The first fee will always be paid directly to the JRCPTB and the membership department will be responsible collecting both their membership subscription fee and the JRCPTB enrolment fee for the subsequent payments.
Trainees registered with JRCPTB can choose to pay their training fees in annual instalments through one of the Royal Colleges of Physicians of the UK (Edinburgh, Glasgow or London) alongside College membership fees, which are tax deductible. This payment option provides cashflow advantages alongside wider membership benefits primarily related to education and training.
Membership subscription fees start at about £100 not including the PTB contributions. Please note that PTB portion of the fee is subject to change and may increase over the course of your payment plan.
Each of the three Colleges' offers their own membership packages, which include benefits such as:
- Free access to the Continuing Professional Development or Continuing Medical Education scheme, saving you approximately £100 per year
- Reduced admission rates to College conferences
- A College journal or newsletter
- Access to the College library
- The membership fee (including those at the higher rate) may be tax deductible
