Notes. There are two basic ways of paying the JRCPTB subscription:
a. Via the Collegiate membership system. The trainee enrols with the JRCPTB and concurrently signs up as a Collegiate Member of one of the three Federation Colleges. For those not yet MRCP(UK) holders the membership status would be that of ‘Associate’. The effect is the same – each year the College will collect the Collegiate or Associate member fee PLUS the JRCPTB fee. The JRCPTB fee will then be refunded to the JRCPTB at the above rate. Colleges will be responsible for collecting the first subscription immediately upon notification of enrolment. The trainee will not be allowed access to the e-portfolio etc until s/he has enrolled and paid the first subscription. Those wishing to change to an up-front fee will be required to pay the full amount no matter at what point they decide to change –see below.
b. As an up-front fee Trainees electing not to join as Collegiate/Associate members will be required to pay an up-front (one off) fee of £250 for ST1s and ST2s and £625 for ST3s. Access to JRCPTB services will be denied until payment has cleared.
c. LAT & FTSTA trainees Will be required to enrol with the JRCPTB in order to access its services – this can be done either through the Collegiate/ Associateship process or as a one-off fee of £125 (renewable year on year where applicable). Refunds are not payable on acquisition of NTN.
v) Next time you log in
On subsequent visits, you do not need to repeat this process but simply click on the login button in the top right hand side of the homepage screen. NB: If you already have a login through your use of the MRCP(UK) site, when you try and register again using either the same RCP Code or same email address, you will be informed that a user has already been registered with those details and you can login to the JRCPTB site using the same details
If you have any queries, please email Enrolments or call on 0207 935 1174 ext 297/244/443/476 or see our FAQs below.
Online Enrolment FAQs
If I have already enrolled with JCHMT do I have to enrol with JRCPTB?
No. If you have already enrolled with JCHMT, then there is no need to re-enrol with JRCPTB as we will still hold your details. However If you have obtained a numbered post which has not been previously enrolled, you will need to enrol with the JRCPTB. Also, if you have obtained an SpR or StR position will need to enrol with the JRCPTB. NB: Only StRs can enrol online, SpRs need to refer to the SpR Training section for details of how to enrol.
Who can enrol online?
The following can enrol online: LATs, FTSTAs, ST1, ST2 and ST3.
The following cannot enrol online and must submit paper-based application forms: FTTAs, SpRs.
Is it mandatory that ST1 and ST2 level run through trainees enrol?
Yes (as stipulated in the Gold Guide)
Is it mandatory that FTSTA trainees at these levels enrol?
Yes (again as stipulated in the Gold Guide)
Will PTB enrolment be necessary before the trainees can access the e-Portfolio?
No. Deaneries should be providing trainees with usernames and passwords for access to the e-portfolio. The e-portfolio is accessible now for those with usernames and passwords. If you require this information, please contact your deanery. The role of the JRCPTB here is to assist in non-technical portfolio questions eg, how many ACATs do I need to do? Who can do my MSF assessments?
Who should I contact if I have any queries or experience problems with enrolling online?
Please contact the enrolments department at Enrolments@jrcptb.org.uk or telephone 020 7935 1174 x 283.
How much is the enrolment fee?
The enrolment fees are:
LAT enrolment fee = £125
One-off enrolment fee = £250 for ST1s and ST2s and £625 for ST3s.
Pay the JRCPTB enrolment fee through your existing Collegiate Membership = £125 (+ Collegiate Membership subscription)
This fee is in addition to the Collegiate Membership subscription fee and payable on an annual basis. Once you have completed training, your annual Collegiate Membership subscription will return to the standard rate. This option allows you to spread the cost of enrolment over the duration of your training, rather than paying in one lump sum. You must maintain your membership for the duration of your training.
How can I pay my enrolment fee?
Enrolling with the JRCPTB means you will have to contribute towards the cost of supervising your training. You can pay your fees in the following way:
a. College membership scheme at any of the three Royal Colleges of Physicians. There are different membership schemes at the Colleges; Associate, Affiliate and Collegiate, depending on which College you join. Please contact the College of your choice for more information and payment details.
Thus you pay your fee (£125) plus the relevant College fee on an annual basis for the duration of your training. This is tax deductible.
If you wish to pay your JRCPTB enrolment fee through a College membership scheme, you will be asked to indicate which college you will be paying through and you will then be directed to the corresponding website ie:
Royal College of Physicians Edinburgh: http://www.rcpe.ac.uk/about/join/index.php
Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons Glasgow:
Royal College of Physician London:
http://www.rcplondon.ac.uk/About-the-college/membership/
b. One off upfront fee. This is a one off payment and no further fees to the JRCPTB will be payable. This is not tax deductible. To pay this way contact the Enrolments office at the JRCPTB by phone or email once you have forwarded your completed enrolment application. Payments can be made by VISA or Mastercard or by Cheque.
