Which posts need to be enrolled?
All training posts must be enrolled with the JRCPTB within 3 months of appointment. All of the following types of post must be enrolled:
· Locum Appointments for Training (LAT)
· Fixed Term Specialty Training Appointments (FTSTA)
· Core Medical Training posts
· Acute Care Common Stem (ACCS) posts in the Medicine track
· Specialty Training in a medical specialty (for a full list of the specialties and sub-specialties overseen by the JRCPTB go to the specialty pages)
· Post-CCT training in Stroke Medicine
Why do I need to enrol with JRCPTB?
Section 2.14 of the 2008 “Gold Guide” states ‘all doctors in training should enrol/register with the relevant Royal College/Faculty so that:
- Progress in their training can be kept under review and supported where required
- Eligible trainees can be recommended to PMETB for consideration of award of a CCT at the end of specialty training.’
The “Gold Guide” contains all the information about how a specialty training programme should be organised, supported and delivered and covers all training in Specialty Registrar grades.
Failure to enrol your post with the JRCPTB may result in:
- Your post not counting towards your CCT and subsequently, delaying your completion of training
- The JRCPTB not being able to undertake any activities to support your training such as prospectively approving periods of out of programme and recommending trainees for accreditation
- Your access to the ePortfolio being cancelled
- Failing your ARCP as many panels ask for evidence of completion of enrolment
To make sure that we can adequately support your training, and you have evidence of enrolment for your ARCP, we recommend that you start the enrolment process within three months of starting your post. Late enrolment may mean that you cannot pay your JRCPTB fee in instalments and will have to pay them as a lump sum.
